Mt. Longonot

Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s. Its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in the Rift Valley North-West of Nairobi. The lake and its surrounding swamps, grass- and woodlands are home to a high diversity of wildlife, among them more than 400 bird species and a sizeable population of hippos. Floriculture forms the main industry around the lake and the largely unregulated use of lake water for irrigation is reducing the level of the lake.
